To celebrate International Women’s Day, Rise North East has linked with FitSwarm, to arrange free virtual fitness classes for women in Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.

The four virtual classes will take place throughout the day on Monday 8 March, and will include Yoga, Pilates, HIIT and Zumba/Dance.

Rebecca Bennett, Active Workplace Manager for Rise and heading up the partnership with FitSwarm, said: “We’ve been working closely with FitSwarm on a pilot project and we thought it was a great idea to link up and offer some free classes for women, to mark International Women’s Day. We know women can often find it difficult to incorporate physical activity into their every day lives, particularly during a pandemic with working from home and home-schooling, amongst other things!

“We’re hosting lower intensity classes to ease us in and out of the day, and higher energy classes during the day to keep us energised. The beauty of the virtual format means they are absolutely free, and because they’re being recorded the women can catch up at a time to suit them if they’re unable to make the live class.”

The classes are open to all women across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear, including individuals, families, clubs and workforces. Once online, settings can also be adapted for those who would prefer to not be on-screen. Class numbers are limited and booking is essential.
