Adam Brougham
Strategic Director
As Strategic Director, it is my responsibility to provide leadership and advocacy across our priority areas, including Adult Heath & Wellbeing, Children and Young People’s Health and Wellbeing, Empowering People, Infrastructure & Environment, and our regional work around social prescribing.
I also work closely with a number of key strategic partners and stakeholders, to increase regular participation in physical activity, placing the Charity at the heart of the ecosystem in the region.

Amy Katz
Empowering People Strategic Development Manager
My role as Empowering People Development Manager is to lead on the strategic support and guidance provided to the cross sector workforce in both Northumberland and Tyne & Wear, empowering people to effectively utilise and embed physical activity and sport within their respective sectors, to meet the needs of the people they’re engaging with. I work with a range of partners and stakeholders to develop suitable training and support in order to upskill, provide expertise, competence, confidence, awareness and understanding of physical activity and sport.

Research and Insight Officer
My role is to identify, collect, digest and summarise complex data and insight from a number of sources, and effectively communicate insight and learning to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Additionally, it is my responsibility to contribute to the gathering, assessment and reporting of information and learning which will contribute towards improving the planning, delivery and evaluation of sport and physical activity for communities facing inequalities across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.

Chief Executive Officer
My role is to provide leadership to ensure that the active partnership can be the thought leaders around the role and purpose of physical activity and sport in communities across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, in order that we can improve more lives.
With the active partnership acting primarily as a business to business organisation, it is essential that I connect with a range of partners and stakeholders to lobby for the role of sport and physical activity in their work.
I also provide the connection between the staff team and the Board of Trustees, who donate their time and expertise in order to shift the dial on physical inactivity in our region.

Dani Crispin Crook
Early Years Development Manager
My role is to lead Rise’s work within the Early Years, which for us is from pregnancy to the transition into full time school. Its an exciting new area for the charity and we will be working towards making physical activity a priority within Early Years sectors and settings, not only to improve children’s health and wellbeing but also to work towards tackling other issues within the community and improve our youngest children’s lives.

Business and Strategy Director
In my role as Business and Strategy Director, I am responsible for providing leadership for, and overseeing, the day-to-day operations of the charity, including the charity’s overall financial, HR and performance management processes.
I am also responsible for supporting the CEO with the growth and development of the charity, helping to develop and implement organisational strategy, enhancing the charity’s strategic relationships, and lobbying for the role physical activity has to play in achieving wider outcomes.

Francesca Laban
Opening Schools Facilities Manager
My role is to lead Rise’s work in relation to the Opening Schools Facilities (OSF) Programme, funded by the Department for Education (DfE). I support schools across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear to open their facilities to the wider community, with the aim of getting more children and young people aged 5 – 16 active and moving more outside of curriculum time, particularly in those communities that experience the most significant health, social and economic inequalities.
The voice of children and young people is key to the success of the programme and ensuring schools provide inclusive, diverse activities that are needs-led, fill gaps in community provision and offer opportunities for long-term behaviour change

Jaki Duffy
Key Worker (Berwick-upon-Tweed)
Deployed through the Berwick Community Trust, my role is to provide dedicated support to young males aged 16-30 years in Berwick upon Tweed who are at risk of isolation, poor mental health and/or currently experiencing barriers to services and support.
I work in collaboration with local stakeholders to share insight around the generic needs of targeted groups to help identify gaps in provision, co-design interventions that are both meaningful and sustainable and ensuring the intelligence is utilised to influence future decision-making at a local level.
This initiative will include using physical activity as a key driver for change to improve physical & mental health and wellbeing, self-efficacy and resilience for targeted young people.

Helen Tong
Business Development Director
In my role as Business Development Director, I am responsible for leading the ongoing development and implementation of the charity’s income diversification and sustainability strategy – identifying and realising new opportunities for sustainable income generation to meet the needs of Rise’s ten-year strategy, alongside the shorter-term strategic Implementation Plans of the charity.
I am also responsible for supporting the Chief Executive in developing and growing the charity’s commercial arm, with a particular focus on growing relationships with corporate partnerships across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear and raising our profile with funders, commissioners, corporates and potential major donors.

Lindsay Peach
Trusts and Foundations Manager
As Trusts and Foundations Manager I have responsibility for leading the research, writing, and submission of funding applications, and monitoring reports, to a range of funders. I aim to secure core and project funding for both new and existing programmes of work. As part of this, I work closely with colleagues across all workstreams and build relationships with funders.
As a member of the newly created Business Development team we aim to diversify and grow income to continue, and expand upon, Rise’s work in tackling inequalities within the North East.

Louise Laws
Children and Young People’s Health and Wellbeing Strategic Lead
My role as Children & Young People's Health and Wellbeing Strategic Lead is to manage Rise’s Children & Young People’s Health and Wellbeing Team, working from pregnancy to early adulthood. I provide leadership and advocacy in relation to the role of physical activity in improving the overall health and wellbeing of children & young people, with a focus on actively tackling and reducing inequalities.
My role is to build trusting relationships to develop and lead strategic partnerships, whilst driving collaboration, influence and learning around system change. Ensuring that physical activity is embraced and embedded as part of the solution to break down barriers and the cycle of disadvantages and disengagement of children & young people. Positively advocating the profile and benefits that physical activity, sport and wider movement can build aspirations to make more positive behavioural choices and improve life chances so that our children & young people live happier, healthier, and more fulfilled lives.

Michael Ali
Active Ageing Development Manager
My responsibility is to provide leadership and advocacy in relation to the direct role that physical activity can play in improving the health and wellbeing of older adults across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.
Utilising the power of physical activity to recondition older adults, I hope to embed active ageing as a means by which health inequalities can be tackled, particularly in our region’s most disadvantaged communities.
The development of new partnerships and enhancement of existing stakeholder relationships is also a key part of my role as we work toward systems-level change and increased opportunities for older adults to be more physically active across our region.

-Paul joined Rise in June as Research & Insight Development Manager from Northumbria University where he was a Research Fellow. Paul’s role is to develop and manage the research and insight function to ensure that decision making within Rise and, where possible, external partners, is based on evidence so that interventions to increase physical activity are based on robust evidence of their effectiveness. Paul’s role involves working with colleagues (internally and externally) to develop approaches to capture, analyse and share insight to demonstrate the positive impact of Rise’s work

My role as the Active Workplace Development Manager is to support organisations across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear with their employee health and wellbeing initiatives. We recognise that people spend a lot of time at work and with colleagues, so we support workplaces by highlighting the benefits of having a more physically active workforce and offer fitness activity opportunities to their staff.
We support organisations who are progressing through the Better Health at Work Award, and work with many organisations in the region, including NE Chamber of Commerce, NHS Trusts and third-sector organisations.

I work with organisations to prioritise inclusion and motivate cultural change to create safer and more welcoming environments so that everyone can enjoy and feel safe to participate in sport and activity.

As the Strategic Lead for Infrastructure and Environment it is my responsibility to provide leadership and advocacy in relation to the role of the built environment in increasing physical activity levels in the Region.
My role is also to provide influence and advancement in relation to the role of active transport including walking and cycling in seeking to reduce carbon emissions and improving physical and mental wellbeing, and to develop and lead strategic partnerships to increase active travel across the Region.
It is further my responsibility to provide encouragement and direction in relation to development and the use of green and blue spaces for physical activity and play.

I provide administrative support to Rise as an organisation alongside offering dedicated support to our various projects. My role involves providing support for organisational and project meetings by coordinating dates, setting up Teams/Zoom calls, booking meeting rooms, distributing information and minute-taking.
I also respond to enquiries, maintain and update files, process office and project paperwork, support the preparation of reports, documents and presentation materials and also maintain office stocks and supplies.
