Rise calls upon support to thank volunteers

Rise wants to spread the word about the integral part volunteers play when it comes to sport and physical activity, particularly during the last 12 months, so we’re producing a ‘thank you volunteers’ video and we’d love you to be part of it.

Our ‘thank you volunteers’ video will feature a montage of messages from those who want to shout about the dedication and hard work of our volunteers across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear over the last 12 months, and their efforts to keep sport and physical activity on the map during the coronavirus pandemic.

Amy Scott, empowering people development manager for Rise, said: “The dedication shown by volunteers not just in our area but up and down the country, to ensure organisations can still run whilst members remain safe has been phenomenal. Which is why we wanted to do create something to give people the opportunity to say thank you to volunteers they know or who have helped them.

“We’d love to hear from as many people as we can, from across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear, so we can give our volunteers the thanks they deserve.”

You might know a coach who has gone above and beyond to make sure sessions are delivered virtually, or a parent who has ensured younger members have coped ok at home during the pandemic. Perhaps your leader has volunteered their time to support vulnerable people in the community or someone you know has taken on more responsibilities as a volunteer in order to help others get through these tough times. Whatever it may be, we want to hear from you!
