Rise appoints new trustee 

Local health and wellbeing charity Rise has appointed a new trustee, with the aim of enhancing its culture of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). 

Karen Pearce, who is the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, joins the Board. 

She brings more than 20 years’ experience across HR, personnel management and employee relations, with expertise in designing and implementing EDI strategies, policies and programmes.  

Karen said: “I’m proud to join Rise and I'm now looking forward to being able to contribute to their inspiring work, bringing the benefits of physical activity to people across the region. In my role at Newcastle Hospitals, I am committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive work environment where everyone can thrive – and Rise is an organisation that shares that commitment.” 

Simon Gordon, chair of Rise, said: “We are delighted to welcome Karen to our Board of trustees. Her extensive expertise and shared passion for EDI will strengthen Rise’s mission to widen participation in physical activity and improve people's lives. We look forward to her valuable contributions." 

Clare Morley, Rise’s chief executive officer, added: “We welcome Karen and we all look forward to benefitting from her valuable knowledge, experience and expertise. Rise is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in all that we do. We encourage and advocate for policies and practices that promote EDI for the benefit of our staff and partners.
