Tyne & Wear School Games launches ACTIV5
The ACTIV5 School Games Team are inviting 1000’s of local school children to get active for a whole week from the 21st – 25th June.
ACTIV5 is a unique week-long event, designed to connect children from across the County, allowing them to recognise and celebrate the importance of daily physical activity.
Each day of ACTIV5 will carry a School Games Value theme (Determination, Teamwork, Honesty, Respect and Self Belief).
Live content will be released each morning, including an opening address on day 1; schools will be able to view these at any point during the day / week. High quality resources will be distributed to registered schools allowing each individual establishment to carefully plan their own bespoke schedule.
To support whole school engagement a series of cross curricular resources are being designed to enable participation alongside the physical activity elements.
Registration for this unique event is now open and once signed up for ACTIV5, schools will receive a detailed timetable and numerous resources to support their involvement. It is specifically designed for staff to deliver on their school site and is purposefully planned to coincide with National School Sport Week.
Gavin Storey, Headteacher at Cullercoats Primary School and Tyne and Wear PE and School Sport Alliance Chair said: "After a challenging year and in the absence of face-to-face events, ACTIV5 is the tonic which enables us all to feel like we're still part of something bigger.
“The Alliance and the Tyne and Wear School Games Organisers are passionate about the importance of daily physical activity and are dedicated to supporting schools looking to deliver opportunities for their children. Most importantly we want to enable our young people to reconnect and collectively reap the rewards a healthy active lifestyle has to offer”
School staff from across Tyne and Wear are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to enable them to receive their information packs.

The ambition is to have as many young people from as many schools across the County actively involved throughout the week, providing a positive environment and experience that will lead many to recognise the importance and enjoyment of daily physical activity.
Don’t forget to share your videos and pictures with us during the week, using #ACTIV5 #TWSG on social media! And remember to get permission from your teacher/parent/carer if you’re 14 years old or under.
Good luck!
